It's only a way of getting around the fact that varroa treatments don't work on sealed brood, so no real ground breaking discovery - they used thymol and OA for anyone with more than one hive though it would just mean a heck of a lot of faff and maximum disruption for the colonies.

I agree with Jenkins in that it would seem like a lot of fuss and bother if you had multiple hives. What an absolute nuisance the mite is. I'm hoping Bass Strait helps keep it away for some time yet.
 
I don't think it will catch on anytime soon. :nono: perhaps its a way of making angry bees; I do wonder what its like to have your protective 'canopy' ripped off, get exposed to cold air, then get squirted with some odd smelling cold stuff and then get stuffed back inside.
