A big hello to my fellow beekeepers on the Forum. Have kept bees, one or two hives, for eight years on the sunny Isle of Wight off the southern coast of England. We are blessed with mild winters being so far south and surrounded by the sea which, together with our beautiful countryside and many areas of relatively low population density, allows our bees a great range of wild flora to work their magic with.
Looking forward to interacting with you all about the world of apiculture and continuing to learn with this fascinating hobby as always.

Welcome to the best bee forum on the planet ... I'm just across the water from you on the Costa del Fareham so we share the same microclimate .... great for keeping bees. Lots in here you won't find in the text books and there's always plenty of people around to answer any questions or to debate the finer points of beekeeping and sometimes the blunter ones. There's a huge back catalogue of history and a search on any topic will give you hours of interesting reading ... and some new ideas no doubt. There's a thread which is always worth dipping into on a daily basis ...over 1600 pages and 33,000 posts - has to be some sort of record on the internet now ..:).

That should keep you going for a week or two !

Or better still looking over your shoulder when travelling at speed !
yes, Pompey and Lowestoft two places I used to love looking over my shoulder at as we were sailing away

Barrow in Furness is another place that also improves in the rear view mirror !
Grimsby - where hope goes to die
One of the few regular places we used to go to where there was never a mad rush to get ashore.

Yes ... I'd second that ... you used to be able to smell the fish dock regardless of which way the wind was blowing from at least 2 miles away land or sea ! Its put a bid in for the Town of Culture 2023...that's an oxymoron
