Good grief!

I think I read somewhere that Britain's shops sell more "Manuka" honey than is produced. So where does the excess come from, and how does it get its' ghastly flavour?
 
"Blended from EU and non EU honey"

As the article mentions in passing, much of the cheapest imported honey is used in breakfast cereal, baked goods and other products where the origin isn't on the label at all.
Could be from anywhere, but there's a lot of cheap honey leaving China that's now going somewhere else. Such as here.
