AFB in 10km grid square SD53

Is there a notification system for AFB, do you know this because of a bulletin or by word of mouth.
How can I check whether there is any incidence in the areas I'm about to open apiaries without having to have a conversation with a bee inspector (who ive not met yet.

I wonder if we heard about it a week ago?

The "Stink!" thread related to "near Preston" ...

No, but everyone should be wary given the reported source:

"The beekeeper collected a stray swarm and shortly after this his bees became sick. All bees in the apiary have been destroyed and all equipment has been burnt or sterilised. Please be aware of the dangers involved in collecting bees from unknown sources and if possible quarantine them away from your own."

It's Ordnance Survey grid - the bottom left corner of the 10km square - try Streetmap .co .uk and enter SW7030 in the search box (need to add the zeros as it won't work with a single figure grid reference).

I had gone to the FERA link and seen a grid reference near me (Cornwall) so used that as an example. Pleased to say its not too close, but worth monitoring.

That might depend on whether the original post grid square was correct or the later one it changed to. SD53 or SW73?

So which one is the correct on because the grid finder puts it in blackburn and the street map puts it in preston
