One point is that if you clean your own hive boxes, and you do not have AFB, you need not live like you have it.
You are not in World War III if you take last year's boxes from your storage. If you have diseases, they are in living hives.

Boxes are easy to clean. Combs are worse.

I'm only a 2 x 2 hive owner and if I ever encountered Nosema (touch wood) I would be happy to chuck the frames. I have plenty of Virkon. Would that sort the boxes?

Most household bleach would do the job.

Virkon is ment to sterilize many kind of things, like greenhouses.

What I see often in plastic boxes and wooden boxes is black mould on inner surface.
