In begging to differ I'll simply put the quoted reference comes from
Cambridge, no less.
But whatever... I do note not a single like driven quip as yours was
put to the use of liquid nitrogen around a beehive, a beekeeping topic.
Says volumes in my "upside down world", eh.

Ahh well that explains it. The definitive(pun intended) English dictionary is the Oxford dictionary , since you chose to use just one of the definitions of aerosol and to be frank a rather surprising one given that you followed it with scientific quotes.
As mentioned, phthalates are basically not present in aromatic aerosols, so what exactly is your concern over the use of a pressurised container around a bee hive.?
I understand the incredulity, most of us felt the same way when it was first mentioned I imagine and I'm sure it doesn't get a mention in the eltalia ocker Aussie beekeeping manual. Do try and express what you believe the issue is concisely this time.
Oh and what comment on the use of liquid nitrogen were you hoping for ? There are those who use it on this site and I'm sure most are familiar with it's function. Were you expecting to be contradicted?

... the propellant, as put a number of times now.

That said, it is not known what we do not know on many aspects
of the organism soooo caution in bringing unknown elements to
management is far wiser than taking a "gee it works" perspective
on husbandry.

Sarcasm aside, dismissed as "ye protesteth too muchly", I did go
look to see if you actually did know what we all know or should
know, and did indeed find you do not know what I know.
Further you could not know as the targeted use for LN2 I refer to
has likely never crossed your radar.
A facet of "beekeeping 0nly within borders"...if you like.

Happy?

So it's fear of the unknown that bothers you. How very troubling you must find the world.
Rest assured the gases used as propellants are quite obviously not harmful in the short term and simply not present seconds later, nor is the spray applied directly to the bees. Plus of course a variety of manual pumps are available if you prefer
Well if you weren't talking about the use of liquid nitrogen in freeze kill brood assays, which is the only purpose I'm aware of for liquid nitrogen in beekeeping, what were you talking about?
