First time at trying this! This is my second year of beekeeping and it's time I had a Nuc Box. I have two questions;

1. Are there any 14x12 Nuc plans linked on the forum.

2. I have the new tapatalk iPad App, I can't see how to search using it? I suspect if I knew how to do that I would not have to ask the first question!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

.
Buy a poly box and split it with table saw.
Then glue the missing wall with polyurethan.
Make a piece of wall from Ginston insulation board.
You may do the cpver and bottom from insulation board.
Build up is quick in that type of nuc.

Use normal brood frame size.

Hi mrbee,
I have designed/drawn one I'm hoping to make soon from 12 & 18mm ply, I could send you a PDF if you like,

If its the same as the Android tapatalk, there is a search function under the "More" tab

There are lots of alternatives here, but make if you want to.

14 x 12 is the same as a deep National, except for the different depths. Not exactly difficult, to work out, that one.

5 or 6 frame?

Timber or ply?

A poly jumbo Langstroth from MB and reduce the length by fitting inserts.

Pains poly nuc with the feeder included.

Poly is far better for the small colony, IMO, especially for over-wintering or early in the year.. I actually use some MB's as 2 x three framers for splits.

Thank you for the replies.

That's set me up for a weekend of woodwork.

It's just a 14x12 hive with an altered width. 35mm per frame plus 10mm = 185mm internal width for a 5 frame nuc and 220mm internal width for a 6 frame nuc.

You are probably up to your neck in sawdust already, but either way, have fun.
