Need to treat for varroa but am splitting the hive in about 2 weeks

It's too early for a shook swarm, remember most of your bees are very old now and need desperately to pass on to the next generation they don't need a big setback this early in the season. Treat for the varroa now and then let them build up if you MUST split them.

    Plastic Nuc boxes

The panes poly nucs seem to work well, the bottom doesn't come off which is often an advantage. However th*rnes are cheaper and look fine.

    Rspe dregs

Along side roads I would think it would be charlock.as for there being no rape in the area this year bees will go a fair way, it is safer to assume there is some rather than have it set in comb.

    Chronic Migraine

i suffered 2 or 3 a week, tried the usual medication which did very little to help then i tried feverfew capsules after a recommendation and they stopped it nearly dead in its tracks. i dont really go for herbal remedys but its got to be worth a try. good luck.

    Stings

If you breed calmer bee's you will hardly need gloves. personally I am getting into AMM and they are so nice that I don't need gloves all the time or even a veil sometimes.

    bbka mann lake

there are always cheap deals on hives and a new company is bound to want to do a good price to get its foot in the door. personally I wouldn't want the bother of changing unless my hives needed replacing.

Dearth of oilseed rape sown this autumn?

OSR is always planted early, usually as fast as it can be got in behind or even during combining.

Dearth of oilseed rape sown this autumn?

its not a stupid question, the rape is a broad leaved plant and is a brassica so part of the cabbage family, the wheat/barley/oats etc are grasses and look very slim. it wont always be rape but if its upto about 8 inches high at this time of year it will in most cases be rape.
