9 month old Splash French Marans cockerel.
He's too old to eat and he's beating up my older cockerel who I am very fond of.

I'll give him another couple of days but you're right, of course.
He will probably be curry.
I'm just a softie.
It's my own fault...we hatched six eggs, five hatched and four were cockerels.
We ate three but as he was very pretty......................oh well.

He's a good looking boy ... JBM would eat him ... bet he tastes like - Chicken !

Cooked nice and slowly, no problem. I do like Marams (never dabbled with the French sort though) But SWMBO is adamant that it's rescue chicks only at Brynmair

Just realised - he's only nine months old - won't be stringy at all!!

Lost and not forgotten ;) and fresh wild Salmon tastes much better than an old cockerel

I would slow cook him into Coq au Vin. Its what it was made for.

Just out of interest, now he's jointed and in the fridge..... Is he still going free to a good home?
Just fancied a chicken curry tonight.
:)

Wise move Erica. Even if it was likely to be a little on the tough side, the best way to tenderise it would be to use a beer marinade. Several pints of beer followed by the chicken curry. No one would notice if it was tender or not.

It's not every day that you can get a few days of humour, random advice and a decent meal from a cockerel.
