    Roofs again (sorry!)

Discount Pete if you were a member of your local BKA and the secretary has emailed Fragile Planet to register the association - they give a 10% discount but you have to spend £100 to avoid delivery cost. However not everyone belongs to an association so possibly irrelevant for you.

    Mouseguards

Have had entrance blocks on for a while. Still seeing a few wasps. Lots of pollen going in and as weather still warm here during day am delaying putting miouseguards on for the time being. A lovely sunny day here, 15 degrees at 9 o'clock.

    Apiguard

I am interested in this thread as have started treatment after removing all honey supers. Having extracted them is it now safe to put wet supers back on for clearing or will they become tainted?

    Can't find queen

I had same problem last two days. So Searched forum and found lots of ideas. One I had not thought of was that she might be already gone but as I could not see sealed queen cell was uncertain. So I did a true shook swarm into a new brood box and hoped I shaked the queen in. Very nerve...

Hi Experts will be along here soon So in meantime if me, (as a 1st year novice) I would collect swarm and rehouse them in brood box again but with a Q/E under to prevent queen going again. Orientate hive entrance at least 90 degrees from parent hive. Give them drawn comb or foundation and...

    After AS

What if you do not want casts should you go in and disturb again, breaking down any new QC's? I have done an A/S and there is no room on other side of original hive to move boxes to. What should be done to negate catses? I am going for increase and will not be reuniting.

Just checked on most exposed hives and added a strap to one, (other already had one). Glad had 150mm deep roofs and bricks ontop as gale force winds and driving rain. A few bees trying to fly with inevitable ending!!! Field virtually a swamp. Did A/S last Friday and praying for better...

    Cutting floor mesh to fit

As already posted tin snips but easier if you take out strands that will run perpendicular to the cut/trim. then Roll strips removed into a loop. never know when a piece of tin wire will come in handy, (perhaps that is why my wife thinks I am decended from a magpie!!).

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Bees out and collecting orange pollen. 15 degrees here at lunchtime, fondant all gone but not looked inside hive yet. I assume I should replace fondant as I have read bees can starve in March and it is still winter. Not experienced enough to rely on hefting to decide.
