Third supers going on some hives, checked one hive which is awaiting queen mating (missed swarm!) will need a third one this week, almost finished capping a super destined for cut comb - hope some of it is good enough for the Royal Welsh!

Why??

Why is it that some beekeepers are so anti-OSR ??

It has fast become my main crop, they always forage on Blackthorn, Hawthorn, dandelion and whatever else flowers just before and at the same time and it makes for a lovely (imo) floral taste.

Convert that into soft set and with the amount I have extracted so far this year I may actually more than pay for beekeeping this year!!

So if your happy NOT to have OSR then fine.

** Rant over **

I completely agree with you.

I have five supers to come off three hives in the next week or so. There is such a difference between the hive that hasn't tried to swarm and the two that have. The hive that hasn't tried to swarm yet has filled three supers, the two that I have had to AS have filled one each, that was before the AS. They are no longer making much of a surplus while the one that has not needed an AS is still steadily bringing in the honey. Main flow here last year was between last week in June and first two weeks in July.

My bees are going absolutely bonkers for cow parsley which is everywhere this spring; the pong was noticeably familiar in and around the hive. Second super going on and progress so far this year way better than last. Looking forward to a bumper summer with the buttercup going mental in the fields nearby and the best is yet to come ...

Both hives on third super. Don't think buttercup give much nectar.

Mine have emptied their first supers - and only pollen left at the edge of the brood nest in the bb. Loads of blossom available but constant rain has stopped them foraging.

I plan to feed this w/e unless the weather changes.
