I had a lucky escape. Thought "I'll be ok. The woodpeckers won't find them" then went down to check on hive one day and found lots of tiny dinks in the front of the hive, some quite deep. Now hive is well and truly covered in chicken wire and seems to be doing the trick *fingers crossed*
Hope you didn't lose too many! Is hive fixable.

also looks like the vandal woody has also been tagging the hive with poorly designed graffiti!!!!

Can't help noticing that most of the damage has been inflicted on Poly hives? particularly vulnerable in my opinion ?

Given the choice, the polyhives would be the easier target.

But given the choice of cedar v. ply, the most damage may be afflicted on the cedar?

Obviously the 'peckers are selective, but that should not be taken to mean anything more than opportunism.
