It protects it to the degree that I wanted I think without actual paint or gloss or something too nasty or chemically, I also want the wood to age to a degree, so I've slowed down it's deterioration to an acceptable level and I'll give it a lick every year maybe... we'll see. But it isn't a uv protective treatment, so it is bound to discolour etc. Even cedar greys over time. I'm sure it's not perfect in every area (waterproofing/breathability, insect toxicity, boring insect protection, uv, natural colour, non solvent etc etc) but this was the best (I hope) that covered all bases to an acceptable sounding degree. But for a colourless protection, I think I've done OK.
I nearly went for Cuprinol Ultimate Garden Wood Preserver, but there wasn't a colourless one. Nearly went for the green... but didn't.
Aaaaanyway... decision made, boxes treated, I'll let you know if all is soggy and rotten by christmas though!
Now bring on the swarm!
More swarms brewing out there you think? Seems according to the forum there were a few up north this weekend.
