I've steeped some alkanet root in it. It's easy to apply, as long as its above 15 degrees C.

I find it works better with adding 5ml Lemon grass oil / litre

Osmo UV protection oil 410. Safe for animals, bees and birds. Two coats will last for 4 to 5 years then just one top up coat. Water beads off and it allows the wood to breathe and also turns wood a lovely colour. £22 tin does one 14x12 nuc floor and roof and two 14x12 broods, two floors, two stands two gabled roofs and six supers.

On my wooden hives; Cuprinol 'Ducks Back' painted a good few weeks before the bees were in residence.
On my poly hives; B&Q Masonary paint again a good few weeks before bees were in residence.
