jenks - the nice thing about a glazed crownboard is that you can see how active they are in mild periods....which is most of the winter.

I can usually tell that by looking at the entrance - as long as the hive isn't too light when hefted in which i'd lift the roof to put some fondant over the feeder hole - I don't faff any more than that
