Am I right in thinking that Polys only come in Nationals/National Jumbo or Langstroth/Langstroth Jumbo??

Poly Lang have been aound thirty years or more. Poly Nats just a few and frankly failed to get a decent market share until, it would appear, now - or about to.

I think the polynucs have at last been heralded as a superb over-wintering format and, with the Paynes really cheap Nat poly nuc arriving, has galvanised a further interest into the beekeping fraternity. Even that monstrosity, the beehaus, has possibly helped in this regard, too, if only to demonstrate that plastics can work.

Unit costs will, I am sure (with the competition among suppliers), make them a very amenable alternative, especially for those a little less 'conservative', and willing to try alternatives.

Looks like there will be at least four competing suppliers, for the National format. Shame they will not all be quite compatible with the rest (which is at least "assured" with a timber National to the BS specs).

TBH, I cannot think that the other formats would be sufficiently popular for capital investment in the moulds at the moment. Some might follow later as/if the trend progresses.

Regards, RAB
