Forgive me if I shudder. A good number of those I used to deal with in my previous life were enthusiastic nail pullers, too! I prefer not to think about these things these days!

Didn't realise you were that old :ack2:

You two have obviously not met some of my former colleagues from the darker reaches of Whitehall!

I understand the hole, its that metal bit that surrounds it causes me grief, although I'm very impressed with its invisibility cloak.

MMMHHH! A hive tool does have the looks of a stealth bomber ;)

Yep my feelings exactly, even with pretty purple and gold ribbon on I managed to lose mine last year, so bought two more at begining of season, first visit to hive and after nearly killing queen by standing on her suddenly the invisibility cloak stopped working on tool and there it was on floor 4ft away from hive:svengo:

And PH yep I do have plastic spacers, dont know why, just do! had self spacing frames in first hive, but when looking after someones who does then needing their frames in emergency, everything muddled so ended going with spacers!

I decided to stop worrying about losing my hive tool and make my own. The last lot was a batch of 50! I now have so many I can almost guarantee I won't lose another one. I did put in a hole for tying on to a piece of string if needed but I have a tack puller for pulling tacks.

I was taught to always work with the hive tool in my hand whilst beekeeping. I still do and never put it down during manipulations. Amazing how you quickly get used to it and always have it there. I am sure that it speeds up manipulations.
