Hi,

Can you lovely folk advise what I should give as a spring feed?

I only got my bees in late August last year so this is our first Spring together. The hive seems light and the bees are out and about on warmer sunny days cleaning the hive and collecting pollen. There's little in bloom here, the usual snowdrops, hellebores and aconites! I haven't inspected the hive as I don't want to disturb them if I don't have to

Should I feed them and should it be fondant or syrup? Also is it too late to treat with oxalic acid?

Thanks in anticipation!

I'd stick to fondant at the moment. It's probably too late for OA.

Too early for light syrup unless you have a field of really early crops nearby

I cut down about 40/50 trees the last couple of days so that I can plant a cherry orchard and my bees have been taking up the sap from the trees. Well, it works for me....:)
