What paint?

I have helped make a nuc box and I was wondering what paint or varnish to use?

Help much appreciated

you could give it a coat of bee friendly weather proofing or give it the usual 3 coats primer, undercoat and gloss, but thats going some, if you intend painting it, do it well before you use it otherwise the paint will smell to the bees

I just paint everything wood or poly with water based exterior masonry paint.

My ply nucs have been outside for 2 years and still look good.

hey am a painter and decorator and i use this,its water based,no smell and on a good day is dry in 10 minutes tops...i am not long into beekeeping and thought id try it and my bees are still alive..since using it i have read about and seen other beekeepers using it so it must be okay.
when your putting it on finish it by running your brush along with the grain,it'll give a lovely finish.

I think you should change your handle to biglonggarden by beekpoll!

By the way if you search the forum rather than posting you will find copious earlier advice about painting/ protecting beehives.....some of it very environment friendly!
