what is with this frame numbering?

What is the meaning of the frame numbering system. e.g. DN1 to 5.
I presume the DN = deep national, SN = shallow national?

I am bracing myself because I have an idea it's going to be a real DOH! moment on my part. :blush5:

the common types are SN1 super frames with thin tops and straight sides and DN5 brood frames with hoffman sides and heavy tops or DN1 narrow tops, straight sides...DN1 are used with 37mm spacers to keep them apart wherase hoffman are self spacing at 35mm

Blimey! Cheers for that Muswel Metro. No chance of a DOH! moment there then. A lot more complicated than I imagined. I'll have another look at the links tomorrow when my brain is more alert. Time for bed now and thanks again MM.
