Could mean that the queen was laying in 3rd week of Jan. Should I be worried?

Yes and No. Seem to be quite a few reported drone sightings, and the winter was (has been?) mild. As Finman says, as long as workers are also being produced nothing to worry about.

:iagree:

spadaman - you don't know how long it's been dead for! but the odd drone may overwinter as described by others. re HM starting laying again - 3 weeks - she could potentially have been laying a little for upto 10 weeks, especially in milder parts of the country.

RAB said " "There are no drones or drone brood.".

That is entirely normal at this time of the year. I would be very worried for the colony if there were. "

Why ???

RAB said Well, NO, I didn't. The OP said that, and I replied about it being entirely (as in all of his words) normal.

You also misquoted, by omission of some of the relevant detail. Please don't do that.

Wouldn't you be worried about a colony, at this time of the year, with drones, drone brood and queen cells?

That of course would be as shown. A Zoonami is a wave of wilderbeest, but I Gnu nothing about those.
