Have the BBKA modules changed their tune on insulation and ventilation?

I'm not sure they have one. It's very hard to say though, as the "syllabus" for each is pretty much a list of one-liners and there's no definitive course text to go with them. One of my criticisms of the entire arrangement is that there's no way you can go into the exams confident that you have covered everything they might expect to examine.

I doesn't come up in the syllabus. There is a question in module 1 about the yearly cycle so could be discussed there but not necessarily.

i found the one liner
"The candidate shall be able to give a detailed account of:-
....
6.23 the colony in winter and summer with special reference to ventilation, humidity and temperature control (homeostasis);"
https://w w w. b b k a.org.uk/syllabi-for-written-exams

but knowledge of Flow hives is now part of module 8!

Ahh, module 6 is "Honey bee behaviour", so I'd imagine the intention there is to talk about bees fanning and stuff like that. Human interventions I'd probably expect to see in module 1, or possibly module 8.
