Over the past few days i have knocked together 100 frames but left the foundation out till they are needed and made a couple more crown boards, that gives me 4 x full hives spare if i ever need them this season.

You have 25 frame hives?

:laughing-smiley-004 .. I have standard national boxes that hold 11 hoffman frames on runners, the frames i put together where 50 deep and 50 shallow, i also have a pile of frames that i knocked up last year and the year before which will give me spares incase i need them for the two Nucs i have, does that settle your curiosity.. ;)

Fancied a day off from paying tax so made a 100 14*12 frames up. Enough for 4 hives ;)

That is my retirement plan. Thursday I had a day off paying tax to refurbish a very old WBC hive which will be a garden ornament and may even double as a bait hive if no one tells the wife ;-)

Do you have 25 frame hives..or double brood with spares for a single box..

Was wondering that myself!
Double brood 14x12's are heavy going. I had several last season and I have vowed this season to swap frames with stores for drawn comb or foundation or even remove brood so that the queen has more space.

I semi-retired about 10 years ago in my 30's, now I just work 6.5 days a week instead of 7! :icon_204-2:

I was having a little gag at Millet's expense :D

Did a few demaree's with 14*12 when I first started, never again, I'm a fit 47yo but not for much longer if I carried on shifting boxes that heavy! Same as you I balance colonies and make space.

Cut the feeders out of 2 Payne’s poly nucs to make them 8 frames instead of 6. Bees seem to be going crazy.

They are upset because you cut their feeder out? Not surprised :) Particularly if they were in the nuc when you did it :)

Ah Context lost when typing on phone. Should have been 2 paragraphs. I have started to see scouts checking roof lines etc, 2 hives doing well, old girl struggling. The nuc's are new and are for splits as a friend wants a colony. Not seen any QC's and minimal drone brood but they are plotting, I can feel it in me bones.

Finished gluing the Ally cladding on Artificial tree nr 6.
Next job paint 5 & 6 then start on the wood liners of 7 to 12 from scaffold plank 2nds

Have you made a start on writing the PIR Homemade Hive book yet? On a 14x12 format, the PIR brood boxes are quite light so reduced lifting issues!

Meanwhile back in the research CAD office the tasks are:
re-factor the comb building CAD object model so that trees and hives share the same code
write a chapter for a book on "future hives".
Write an article for BBKA news.
Write an article for BeeCraft.
...and do some CFD research
... and do the drawings for PIR hives :)
