Realised that I was running low on foundation spent an hour making and wiring 10 sheets of foundation with my own wax. Used a new home made wiring board with a set of sprung cams kindly given to me by one of our association members, Keeps the wire at a nice tension when embedding, so nice straight wires. Very happy beekeeper here. Now needing more wax!!

Checked how well my fixed fence works for the table saw. Essentially I've tacked on a bit of wood to the side so it cuts exactly 50cm (according to my tape measure) but it sounds better if I call it a fence. Then made a 4cm spacer block for it so I can do 46cm sheet materials easily. I reckon I'm 0.5mm out on the spacer, perhaps slightly less. This really bugs me but I've run out of light for today and, for my own kit, is possibly acceptable.

Today, in the workshop, I made myself a tool tray. Stole the idea from one I'd seen on a website last week. I'm pretty pleased with the results....

Now I just need to get the rest of the bits I'll need for when I get a colony 😁

That’s really good.
What you really need is a shed next to the bees 🤭

What I really need is someone to come round and tell me if my propose hive site is viable! It's like i'm shouting into a void at the moment :D:D:D

I have in the home apiary, and space in Tiddy's workshop at Garn Cottage if I want it. but I think SWMBO would have me toe the line with one in each

Are

Are you in touch with your local association?

Yes I am, but just waiting for a reply to an email I sent, last week, asking if anyone could help.

I'd like to get the site sorted ASAP, so just a bit frustrated at the moment. Hopefully I'll get some joy after this bank holiday weekend.

Pop along to their training apiary.
Most of them run on Sundays. Much better to stick your nose in, make some contacts and ask in person.

Today, in the workshop, I made myself a tool tray.

Easily forty years ago my dad made something very similar (it had an arched handle) from some scrap pine for carrying tools about in. Eventually it ended up in my hands, but I rarely used it as was a bit larger than I generally needed so it was forgotten about. I've been thinking that I need some better box to organise my inspection kit and the photos reminded me of it. Unfortunately I now have not a single clue as to its whereabouts :(
