Overwintered pollen is a very poor protein sources, down by about 70%+. It's why it's advised to freeze frames of pollen for spring.

BT?

Do you spray them wet or get them dry first?

I spray mine with Certan .. I don't think it makes a lot of difference whether they are wet or dry .. you dilute the Certan with water and spray it with a pump or pressure sprayer so it's wet anyway !

Wax moth attacks wet and dry frames.i use certain too now. Since using it no moth. Dry frames stored in dry conditions and the pollen just shakes out in the spring as a powder.

That apparently is the effect of the pollen mites working on the pollen overwinter or so I'm told. I'm hoping it works as I currently have three full brood boxes of pollen clogged frames...now stored in an outbuilding.

I also just store wet. Making sure the stack is sealed bottom and top. No issues whatsoever.

I get ants in any frames stored with any honey in them unfortunately. They absolutely hammer them...any time of the year. Worse now with the big dry.

I store wet outside. Strapped close, Never an issue - yet.

What do you use to keep the rain off? Roof?

I've got ply boards I can use to ratchet top and bottom and pallets to stack to keep them off the ground, but the ply will quickly deteriorate outside in the wet.

I'll see if I can find an empty barn to use by any other ideas for keeping them outside/dry?

Hive roof will suffice - I'm lucky as I have a large covered but open sided shelter which was the dog run when I had working spaniels, really wished I'd kept more spaniels now as the shelter is quickly becoming to small to store all the kit :D
