I have 2 colonies, one an AS from other, both re-queened this year. They are both healthy & slowly filling a super put on 2 weeks ago. Do I still need to inspect the brood frames every week at this time of year? - they were a bit tetchy & protective of their stores last week & I don't want to unnecessarily disturb them when I'm pretty sure swarming is not an issue.

I'm afraid it is a matter of 'knowing your bees'.

Some strains appear to swarm at 'the drop of a hat'.

Young queens are generally less likely to swarm in the first season, but that is not a rule.

:iagree:
Mine swarmed three weeks ago - 2011 Buckfast queen - luckily They settled 16 feet up my apple tree so I managed to recapture them and they've now settled down nicely (I hope!)

I would keep on inspecting.
After all, one has swarmy antecedents.

we check our weekly and glad we do, Both AS's were done on choice because of this rather than panic emergancy... recomend regular weekly if you can.
