errrrr yep if they are weaker, with queen excluder in place

used to prep for the season but I have seen on a couple of operations if a colony is not over 8-9 frames - the bees can still get up if they need too.

I'm promised a visit to a Derbyshire guy and will see if he does same, he had 200+ hives but I think he is scaling down.

Presumably they're using frame feeders if they need to feed then?
