a friend has a hive and he says he has seen wax moth larva on the inspection board and is wondering if the bees will be able to clear this up themselves and if not what can he do now?

Hi Darren
The larvae are on the board because the bees are clearing up the problem themselves. If the colony are strong, wax moth will not be a problem.
I've not seen a decent colony not be able to cope with the moth.

Take the inspection board out, clean off the wax moth larvae and leave the board out unless it's needed for counting varroa.

Beat me to it! :)

Inspection board is not for use other than doing varroa counts (and a couple of other things you needn't worry about now).
Leaving it in for a long time creates a wax moth hatchery...

....and agree with the above, the inspection board shouldn't be left in after doing Va. checks
