Hi, want to get just a veil for when wanting to quickly work on the bees for a few minutes without putting on full suit. Can anybody recommend a good one which works well?
 
I've got one of those crop-top type jobs, that I keep in my swarm kit. Works well, especially if you put it under a jacket or fleece. Think I paid about £3 for it from a closing down sale.
 
I rarely wear a full suit ... I have a jacket with traditional hood and veil ... it's an Old Castle Farm Ventilated one .. takes seconds to put on, totally bee proof and comfortable. Putting the full suit on is only if I am doing something like splitting a hive ... and even then, with my pussycats it's not really necessary. They have increased a lot in p

I must admit that climbing in and out of a full suit is a bit of a pain if you just have a quick job to do but I'm sure most people have had the ' I was just going to ....' sting on an unprotected area when you thought the bees weren't looking. I got two when I was 'just taking off an empty feeder' at the end of last season ! LIttle beggars came up and at me through the feeder hole and I got two on the back of my hand as I could not get away with a feeder half full of Invertbee ...

This works ok for me. Just need to make sure it is over your collar at the back.

I use the one I got 40 years ago. It is a straw hat with a veil that sits over the top. It is long enough to tuck under a jacket. Ideal for those quick jobs and for wearing when strimming round the hives
