I have removed all my varroa boards, despite the cold weather, as I had been leaving them in to reduce draft, but some were developing mould suggesting possible mould inside the hive. Too cold to look.

Mine have mould on them if I don’t clean them regularly. The thought that it might reflect mould inside the hive never entered my head.

I don't think it needs to ... unlikely to be any mould in an active colony. On the inspection board you might get a bit if they are not wiped clean regularly .. pretty ideal conditions for it.

I'm not sure whether I can exaxtly remember where I put my inspection boards - not under the hives to be sure
