I collected my first nuc on 01/07/2018. They came on deep national frames and I have a 14x12 box. Placed them in and bees doing well. Drone comb drawn under the frames (no issues with this and expected) but not charged and don't expect it to be this year but I suspect it will be used next year. I can't freeze the frames as it would obviously kill what worker brood was actually in the frame and I don't mind cutting a portion away for varroa control but it seems a real shame to simply bin all the wax. Can you experienced beeks give this rookie some pointers for next year? Cheers

Enrico, thank you. I was thinking of that and will look closer at the process as I develop. So I would cut it away, freeze it to kill varroa and drone brood and then when ready just process it and screen the detritus out at that point?

I have a bucket near my hives, I cut it out drop it in the bucket and pick it all up at the end of the season.
