Uniting two swarms

How soon after collection can/should we unite two swarms?

I assume the best way is to let them settle a couple of days in their new home, feeding both, then do a newspaper unite, after removing a queen at random (unless one is marked as being a couple of years older than the other).

If you catch two on the same day simply throw them into a BC together before they get establised as they don't usually fight. Not a good idea to feed a swarm straight away unless you know that they have come from a disease free hive.
