Posted yesterday that was having trouble to find marked (at start of season) queen to return her as part two of snelgrove 2. Eventually found her today on my last ditch run through of the boxes. Mark worn off. Remarked her under the crown of thorns twice. Each time the paint had been removed while waiting for it to dry, having lifted the COT enough for her to move round. Attendants wer all over the COT.
Have had this pen for several years now. Always shake it before use.
Anybody know if the paint thins down over time?

Mine run out or dry up!
Uni Posca does seem to wear of after a couple of seasons... probably not noticed by the beeks who have to requeen every season?

Did try nail paint once but the " Buckfast Surrey" queens were getting balled... possibly a trait in that sort of honey bee.

Similar experience Two of my queens are 3 years old. Mark is hardly visible But it is Dayglow Orange so still shows.

Operator error not strain of bee, think of the strong smell, no wonder it got balled

The only problem Posca I've had was the 2016 white. The blob on the two Qs I marked was a murky off-white/grey. This year those two Qs only had a minute spec of white remaining. What to do? I decided to mark them yellow.

Never pay attention to colour for the year. I do the rounds of red, yellow and white. The white is new this year, so will see if it works better with all those queens I will raise this year. Lol.

I use the bright pink, easy to see and I know it's definitely one of my queens

Tippex every time. but I do get lots of colour marked queens in swarms that were marked the previous year looking at the amount they have been cleaned off by the attendants.
