Thanks, I must confess I have never seen square tubes.
I was thinking about using two or three scaffold boards on the top to sit the hives on rather than the actual tubes though.
I suppose like the kind of thing that a painter might use, I'll try and find an example.

Square tube is perhaps better known as box section :)

No comments on my scaffold tube stand idea guys & gals ?

You could easily use scaffold tubes as the basis for a stand. Wack some tubes vertically into the ground to provide your legs .. a couple of horizontal tubes held in place with scaffold clips, couple of tubesat right angles and a couple of scaffold boards on top ... just like a real scaffold ... jobs a good 'un. Ten minutes with a scaffold spanner and a club hammer.

Easy to dismantle to take somewhere else and re-erect it. Sturdy structure - with enough legs you could put as many hives on as you wanted - just extend the horizontal poles.

I commend the idea to the house ...

Also to mention if have cylindrical tubes place some hard rubber and I believe will be OK. I have several something like that, forgot to mention..

make the legs collapsible so they stack and only take up the depth of the horizontal bit where the hives sit so that they are easily transportable.

With a design as robust as that I would be inclined to try and incorporate a method of securing the hives to the stand so that they couldnt be stolen.
Bolts hidden by extra bits of wood which are held in place by screws which have had the heads covered with putty or propalis.

Looks good. The ones I have made are as the link here -->> http://www.-----------.com/triple-hive-stand/ very similar to yours but can be folded.
d i g i t a l d o d o = missing word minus the spaces.

:iagree: I think the above model with inclined (folding) legs looks more elegant and is possibly more stable than designs with vertical legs - but then I'm biased currently building my fourth. There are plans and measurements somewhere on the forum.
