I can not see what is so difficult about that..... farmers put nutrients back into the soil too.

Does it matter if they are brood rearing 365?
Worst case scenario you stick some fondant on which is not very arduous or difficult.
Good case scenario is big colonies in spring.

A poor spring and you are feeding them. A poor spell in summer and all the bees eat up the honey they have collected. So yes it matters if you want to select decent traits. And of course there is more chance of winter starvation. If you just want lots of bees to play with - it doesn't matter.
