hi
i know its a bit early , but how do you transfer the small yellow frames from the mini nuc into a normal sized poly nuc ? do you just stack them inside the polynuc ?

thanks

You don’t normally mini nucs are just to produce queens. You can unite them or shake the bees off when finished. Some have rigged up frames that are transferable, but as above they are mainly for queen production.

Yes that’s one way. We used mossing pins, then added a frame of stores and built out from there. The bees add comb to the mini nuc frames and they can be overwintered in place.

Useful towards the end of the queen rearing season when the mini nuc and bees arent going to be used again.

Subsequently, we cut out the whole mini nuc / apidea process and used 2-3 frame nucs from the start. Whole lot easier.

Edit : just to add my minis were 4/5 frames per colony when transferred.
