Thank you, I loved his lecture at NHS and speaking to the man himself. Quality again here.

Just watched it through - very good indeed, he's one of the few lecturers I don't find myself trying to stay awake to.

Surprised (though thinking about it makes perfect sense) that the "bump" he describes with returning foragers disagreeing with others of their kind waggling in the wrong direction is also used by scout bees directing the swarm

Great stuff, has anyone read his book Honeybee Democracy? might be worth putting on my wishlist.

Just getting started on it.

Tom spoke at the INIB conference in November past and delivered two great lectures. I had the privilege of meeting and chatting with him (and Bill Turnbull and Jamie Ellis too) the night before the conference and the night after at a barbeque organised by the INIB chairman. Tom is a ture gentleman with a passion for honeybees that is reflected in his work, lectures and conversations.

About halfway through, I got it on Amazon for fifteen quid - great read: I already really want his 'Wisdom of the hive' now but at around 70 quid I think I'd better put it on my very special Christmas wish list.:D

I hope the news goes round quickly when it is reprinted. Surely can't be very long now.

Have read Honeybee democracy and can highly recommend it. Took some getting into in the first few chapters, but once i got into understanding more of it, i couldn't put it down.

I couldn't concentrate because he is sporting the most awesome comb-over I have ever seen!:willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

Wisdom of the hive is also a fine publication, which I read as a download pdf ;)
