I can't think that there is anyone who has not noticed that it is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz - in these days, where the likes of Putin and Trump are intent on disseminating their own misplaced views of the world as it is and as it was, perhaps spend a moment or two considering the 6 million that died in concentration camps as a result of another megalomaniac, despotic tyrant and the millions that either died or were affected for their entire lives removing him from power.

As we move on towards the point where not only will there be nobody left alive that experienced the horror of WW2 there will, in the foreseeable future, be nobody around who knew or had first hand exposure of those who were there at the time and survived. WW2 is rapidly being consigned to the history books and it is a dreadful pity, as we watch the events unfolding in parts of the world, that World leaders do not spare a thought for what has gone before.

Watching the BBC's holocaust memorial service, what strikes me most is that most of the perpetrators probably started as normal decent people. Quite a thought. How many of us could be absolutely certain we couldn't behave the same way in the wrong circumstances?
Scary even without looking around the world at the rise of the far right again.

Many categorised as far right are far from that, there has been a sustained shift to the left compared to those times.
The Beeb never misses an opportunity to ram their indoctrination mantra at the populace, fortunately their game is up as their influence has severely waned. If history is viewed in an unemotional manner it becomes clear that one extreme produces an equal and opposite. We are now in the fight for rebalancing and that is not the best of times to live in. The election of Donald Trump a perfect example, his team comprises those of the left and right whose core values coincide. Having suffered a party here in the UK for 14 years posing as conservatives and now one posing as Labour, we will hopefully see a party that is neither left or right but one that represents the people rather than the globalists that the rotten to the core uniparty have and are doing. I believe in democracy even when the outcome does not necessarily suit, what we have now is not that.
As for your main point, I agree. My belief is that circumstances change not people and that given the right circumstance people will revisit their history.

There is no right, there is no left anymore.
Just naked greed from those who can never have enough.
The oligarchs won and no one is coming to our rescue.
I suspect we may be the first species to die out as a result of mental illness.

Have faith, we are dragging those you speak of from under their rocks and into the sunlight for all to see, we are winning and they know it. If just 7% resist peacefully we will win, I think we are at that number so do not give up. If you think you are beaten you will always be right.

I can't think that there is anyone who has not noticed that it is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz - .......
The Guardian today reports "A recent poll found sometimes high double-digit proportions of young European adults had not heard of the Holocaust, could not name Auschwitz or any other camp........"

It would be interesting to break those numbers down further to see why that ignorance exists. There have been genocides throughout known history and imo it would be beneficial to educate the roots and methods which have produced these horrors.

some still going on - and, as it doesn't suit the agenda, the world just looks the other way

When times are desperate, beekeepers have an advantage - they can tell it to the bees! Not insulating or isolating from the horrors caused by politicians, oligarchs and their pals, but engaging in a caring, positive activity.

There is a leaked Home Office report doing the rounds, called 'Rapid Sprint' saying if you use the term '2 tier policing' you are a right wing extremist. Also it wants to expand Non Crime Hate Incidents. Meanwhile we still have 'Article 10'. But this will be a catch all, Left and Right, you may say something innocuous and then you get a knock on the door, no evidence needed.

Yes

And from the Home Office

In an assessment that will lead to a backlash from Tory and Reform politicians, the report also says that “claims of ‘two-tier’ policing” are a “Right-wing extremist narrative” and that grooming gangs are an “alleged” problem “frequently exploit[ed]” by the far-Right.

1984 should be required reading at school.

I deleted this and posted elsewhere but it’s relevant here

Much of these tactics are to silence thos who might speak on many subjects and distract from others that are simply evil in nature.
I follow amongst many others a one George Galloway on X and the GB workers party,of which he is the leader, on Telegram On some subject matter one just has to ignore but on many others the majority would be surprised at his views and vast knowledge. He and they hate our dear leader and hold many values that are at the core of being British. A follower is not the same as being a supporter I might add. He sometimes reposts my views and I his. As for reform and the cons, the cons have produced shamefully limited opposition to this gov and in Reform the stand out MP is Rupert Lowe not Nigel Farage.
The reality we face is that the official opposition are we the people. If you dissagree with what is happening then say so. Emails to your MP and councillors have much more effect than you might think. They dson't like it up em Mr. Mannering, they love their egoes to be caressed, so caress and if that does not work give it a good kick in the rear. But do not ignore as they will take that as support.
Today the evidence to support the third reading of the assisted dying bill is happening, they hasve stacked the numbers of those giving evidence with supporters and denied access from those charities who oppose this bill. The main thrust of this bill originates from very wealthy funders who have long term agandas of supporting euthanasia that extends way beyond those people you may wish to believe should have this right. Even the poor are now on the list in Canada and Holland much worse, if we follow suit we are talking of numbers around 60,000 per annum within 5 years.

I heard a Canadian talk about this and it sounds absolutely horrific, basically assisted drowning.

Government approved terminal water boarding….
Still, it’ll get rid of the useless eaters and save fortunes on pension payouts.
Got to close the inherited “black hole” somehow and build back better for our uninvited guests.

And from that is this amazing piece

A key concern around the assisted dying bill is that it appears to discriminate against people who are not terminally ill, and that a legal challenge could be brought under the ECHR which could ultimately lead to it being widened, raising fears of a “slippery slope”.

Barrister Alex Ruck Keene KC told the MPs, “there’s no way to prevent challenges under the ECHR,” but legal experts disagreed over whether such a claim would succeed.
