Interesting that the code can have major faults but still got to an answer for the new strategy. I need to go find a new starter for that new strategy, I knew it looked daft!
Just running to find new starter but had left one debug line in, so it filled 88G of my disk in 18 seconds. Delete that and go again... The fun!

It did not try an O until the final line, repeating other letters instead.
Maybe I need to reconsider methods, O is 4th most common letter...
