Thymol treatment- have I had a good idea?

and that's from someone who loves the smell of thymol - more than happy to cook it up indoors.

You can tell a happy beekeeper this time of year from the residual perfume of thymol. I've found that the bees associate it with their annual dose of thymolised syrup and come looking for me when I'm cooking up the oil mix.

Incidentally no varroa drop this year; like many I was wondering whether or not to treat. The thymolised syrup answered that for me as it brought about an immediate drop when there had been no visible sign before.

Ah, I thought you meant they would remember last year's treatment. :)
 
i understood that post to mean that thymolated syrup given (a bit early IMHO) at which point a few varroa dropped (vs nil naturally previously), spurring the poster to put on a proper treatment after feeding complete.
