Lots to think about. I only got this hive in august this year. The chap i got them from was downsizing. They are water tight now but havent a clue what caused the weakened state of wood before. They have insulation round them and are ready for winter. Tho being in north dorset we dont get harsh winters. In fact last year not even one frost. We waited to dig our parsnips up afyer first frost as it develops the sugars in them for better taste but gave up waiting as we had none!
 
Should have said ... place them in gently.... If the frames are the same format... take the brood across with the queen...... if changing frame format you are not left with too many options.

moved a colony of bees from a polly nuc to a polly hive... and gave them 6liters of invert as a house warming present!
