So yesterday I inspected the Q-hive because I saw pollen coming in and got excited.
There were no eggs the girls were depleted and would not have survived I don’t think. Stores were almost gone. So I have united them with a favourite hive. Configuration is National UFE floor, BB super full of stores. QX Newspapers (3 sheets no holes) Queenless BB then crown board eek with fondant. Then finally crown board with no holes in it and tin roof.
Hopefully they don’t kill my favourite Red Queen.
Question is: I want to remove the extra bb once they’re combined to preserve heat . there won’t be any brood in there so what little stores in the Q-BB can be discarded?
Or is there another way also will they move the fondant down into the BB ???
