Taking a small colony into winter

Dragging this old thread up again! Will this size colony only need one tray of apiguard to do the job? By the way, it's a bit more lively now after I transferred some capped brood from another hive .

That's what I did with mine. 1/2 tray Apiguard, left 2 weeks then put the other 1/2 in. That has been in just under a week now and all appears well
