Super, up or under?

There is these day's a growing tendency to place a completely empty super under the brood box at the start of winter, the idea is to provide a gap between the brood and the open mesh floor.
A solid wooden floor gave some degree of protection from cold winds and frost, but with a brood box placed directly on a omf it's possible for strong cold winds to be channelled through the frames and a spell of cold weather, when early brood is being laid could chill and kill some brood, delaying the spring build up.
But with a super placed between floor and brood box a buffer is formed between the two allowing the winds to roll around in the empty super while the frames in the brood can even act as a barrier reducing the flow of the cold wind.
I wonder if this is causing some confusion as to where to place a super.

There is no idea to talk about super this way.

I same, is it super or brood box.

There is no conection with "empty super box" and "super full of winter food".

This is not an architectual issue, how hive looks like.

And if mesh floor is too cold, close it. What in the heck you put
extra box when you keep ten fold too much ventilation.

In nature, bees build downwards. Only way.
They build comb. Queen lays eggs in the central area and workers fill outer area with honey. As the comb extends downwards the queen also moves down laying eggs in the new comb. When the upper most area of comb where the first lot of eggs were laid becomes vacant, the workers start to fill the empty cells with honey. And so it goes on until winter when queen stops laying. Then they start to move back up again eating the honey on the way to the top.
The bees dont know the difference between a super and a brood box. If you used deeps instead of shallow boxes, the bees would still store honey there,
but poor old retired , infirm, bad back suffering beeks, wouldnt be able to lift the bloody things.
