darn south we had all 5 hives firing up on saturday and sunday ....

loads of pollen going in .... tho is there any nectar this time of year ?

It's raining again, then the forecast is snow..

Even if there were tonnes of pollen and liters of nectar (and there are not) the only bee out flying is a kamikaze one..

The good news we don't get more than very small localised flooding. If it does get worse than that, then Cheshire will be covered with 100m of water ..:paparazzi:

I was talking to our local builder whose house is some half a mile from the river but 300ft above it and when he was looking for insurance he was told he was at a risk of flooding due to how near to the river he was... he went elsewhere.

It is the same here at the moment which i do not mind..the howling gales and rain we have had for nearly three weeks is the weather that is doing my head in..the bees have loads of crocus to go at but it is too cold windy and wet for them to fly..this time last year lots of pollen was going into the hives..

Lashing with rain off and on for three weeks here too. I’m looking at a tub of Ultrabee and thinking hmmmmm

If you've ordered the patties then give them one each/ nuc a half
The supplier used to sell 10lb tubs of powder to make your own. Sadly they no longer appear to and I'm on my last tub.

Yes - it seems that you can get it in a 340 g tin or 25 kg bag. Nothing in between.

Ultra bee came out top in a series of tests ran by Randy Oliver a few years ago.

The colony is on two seams of bees covering around 5/7 inch of the frames left to right..not sure how far down they go but it is not looking good..i have now got them in the house..just waiting for the pollen patties..folk might say i am sad but there's no harm in trying..

Have had to feed most of mine, due to being so mild! Very wet, wish it was cold and dry to be honest.
All colonies flying, some think it's spring!
