I know this has come up several times and ive also searched on other sites but maybee someone has a new idea i can try.I am complete novice and only have one hive i ocasionaly wear glasses but even with the torch and magnifying glass i still cant seem to see eggs.About ten days back i saw a lot of pearly white lava but couldnt spot eggs or the marked queen and today i didnt see any lava at all just wondering if anyone has a idea no matter how daft it sounds .Ive tried a torch and also magnifying glass /light behind me etc .What next.

Torch? You need a blue LED
It helps knowing where to look too
In the middle of he brood nest where brood has emerged already and on new comb

Lately - thanks to technology - I've taken to rapid shoot on my phone
Just make sure the sun is hitting the bottom of cells.
I wear transitions and find them hopeless for focal point at close
quarters.

Don't despair. New comb is easier than black comb. Once you have spotted them you will wonder what the fuss was about.

Worth noting cells are at an angle so you need to angle the frame to be able to see to the bottom of the cells. Holding frames vertically in front of you doesn't work.
Need the light right as well, bright sunshine is not good. I'm also odd as I find the pearly white eggs easier to spot against a dark old frame background...

If you are odd then so is thee..i find it much easier to spot eggs on dark come as apposed to new come..weird ehh .. ;)

Blue torch, does this really work and by blue do you mean uv or just blue tint .I think i read somewhere that th uv can harm eggs.Ill try owt if its going to work.

When you see those pearly white larvae, follow them outwards and notice that the larvae decrease in size - and at the furthest edges of the patch of brood, you’re likely to see the eggs (and keep your back to the sun).

I have 25% magnification in my close distance varifocals,

Makes an awful difference.. I can see eggs easily..and I am very old :paparazzi:

I wear contacts for nearsightedness....I take one lens out for queen or brood/egg related inspections and hey presto....

Aye aye cap'n!

OP? Can you find a mentor as its vastly easier if someone experienced can say to you look here, pointing then hand you the comb and as you know they are there oddly they appear... and once your eye is tuned in that's it for life. :)

I've tuned a fair few eyes in, in my time.

And another vote for eggs on dark comb being easier to see. Every time.
