Oh yes they were....ours are spotted, this lamb was black. Must've been the neighbour putting tup lambs in the next field without thinking. Again.

This evening one of his bullocks took the fence above the apiary. Again.
 
Drones corralled onto the area above the hive entrance in most of my hives....

Leaves on the horse chestnuts started turning colour over a fortnight ago.
 
If the girls are currently bringing in loads of pollen and there is balsam and ivy available is there any good reason why the queen would tail off her egg laying as autumn approaches? They're bringing more pollen in now than they were 2-3 months ago. Very strange.

Another question - is the pollen coming in now predominantly for the grubs or for themselves over winter i.e. is stores considered to be both pollen and honey but generally more of the latter?

Possibly worthy of a separate thread but it's part of the Autumn shut-down.
