Also it is easy to miss a post. I always use the new posts button and if yours has got pushed off the bottom I and everyone else who uses the same method will miss it. Sometimes you have to bump your thread back to the top to get it noticed. Queen bees, they come through the post so don't limit the area of your search. Never bought one so can't help but just trying to explain why your thread was missed, certainly be me.

I have just seen this thread bumped and agree with OP that it is sad when you ask a question and get unhelpful answers with no explanation. It is a forum, asking questions is the reason it is here. The problem is the old hands get the same questions at the same time every year no doubt. The problem with unhelpful answers is the new guys weren't here then to know that.
If you have seen it all before and know all the answers but aren't prepared to share knowledge it would be more helpful to stay quiet.

Back on topic, I have a hive that has thrown solitary queen cells charged and capped twice this year they also have younger back up cells but the queen is still there and laying I suspect they will supersede and I will leave them when they try again. Sounds similar to OP single cell hive. My queen has most definitely not left the hive with a swarm despite the capped cell. She is a 2015 queen and still seems prolific.

Just a thought,

if both splits are Q- you might want to combine them ASAP to give them a better chance of survival.

Is there someone at your local association that would donate a frame with eggs (you would need to transport the nuc to them so as not to chill it), but worth an attempt when put them all back in the original hive. It might just improve their temper too.

Yes put them together and order a queen in the post. That's what I would do.
You don't have the luxury of making a nuc for her, which would be the safest option so just leave her in the cage with the tab intact for a few days.
Does anybody know if introducing her this way into a super (if there is one) might be even safer"

Thanks folks it is all under control after a bit of a stressful situation, a good member has gone one step further and offered me a laying Bucky Queen in a five frame Nuc, i will drop my own empty Nuc of and the bees will be put in my Nuc and left for a few days to stick everything together for transporting, that way they can also be shut in on the evening and i can move them the following morning without loosing any flying bees.

Another good bit of news is the single Queen cell in my split side has emerged after around 12 days after being sealed ? , that colony is as calm as ever at the moment, i just hope the new Queen gets mated and throws calmer bees, the main colony that is jam packed with angry bees still has two sealed queen cells, i will let them get on with it for now if they stay Queen - i may well unite them to the split side once the new Queen is up and running.
Thanks.
Steve.

Pleased to hear your good news. :) I also hope you can look forward to calm bees.

Thank you John, however when you think you have it cracked this happens, it has got to be from my original hive where i left two Queen cells, the sad thing about it is i can not get there till tomorrow to put them in a box so i have been on the phone to my lady friend and told her to cut a couple of slots in a cardboard box and slide it over the fence rails till i can get there tomorrow, i love this bee keeping lark.. :hairpull: .

Omg what bad luck. You try to do right by them and they go their own way. Hope you get them back. Good sign for having some queens to choose from now I suppose if all goes well.

It is all fun and games at the moment Colin, this is what my Lady Friend has done till i get there tomorrow to keep the rain of them, and believe it or not she done it without a veil and these bees are the equivalent of a Tasmanian Devil in the animal kingdom, she never took one sting but the horses did..

She's a keeper, Steve ;)

Did ya catch it??

No Joseph it was gone when i got there and i'm kind of glad in a way, one less Queen to Squash and still spare kit to use for the less angry bees i will be getting soon.

On another note they was three Queen cells instead of two, the third one was really hard to see as it was among what looked like drone brood with only the tip showing, a bit like a sealed play cup, so the first Queen to emerge left with a small swarm and left me with still a good number of bees with 2 x queens, i found this dozy looking Queen on the landing strip today, i tried to put her in the entrance but a worker dragged her straight back out so a splatted her, she was paralyzed and could not use her front leg's so she obviously lost the battle with the other Queen.

Here is the looser, sad but that's nature for you.
