I have two hives of gentle bees that don't seem to do the guarding bit very well. It may be due to the wet weather but there aren't many flowers about, for two days now a crowd of more aggressive bees have targeted my hives and I've had to close-up and give food and water inside.
Do I just carry on doing the same or should I do something else?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Robbing screens are your friend. Easy to make and work a treat.

Thanks, I did that (at night when all the bees were inbord )but my bees had trouble finding the entrance after foraging the next day. In the end I removed the screen each day at sunset and the problem seems to be lessening. Fingers crossed and thanks again.

Thanks, I did that but after foraging the next day the bees had trouble in finding the entrance, I now remove the screens at sunset when the robbers have gone and let the looking-lost bees back in. The problem appears to be lessening. Think I'll be doing this method for at least three weeks. Regards.
