I have a Pa@@es poly national so came with a plastic block that is turned to have four holes as the mouse guard so I am presumming I will have to check the opening during the winter and push something through the holes to move any dead bees out of the way until spring as not gone through a winter before its all new to me :)

didn't bother removing the snow from the entrances after this fall in feb 2012. in truth couldn't get to the hives which are 100m away down a steep slope.

bees were fine once it compacted down (to 1m) and melted a bit (OMFs open all winter). as soon as there was some flying weather (despite the snow) they were back on the Loquat blossom at every opportunity.
